October 2011, ![]() Our President Robyn Ashworth (far right) and family, supporting Ireland at Wellington during the Rugby World Cup. ![]() History was made on the West Coast on Saturday 6 November 2010 with the Charter dinner of the Greymouth Toastmasters Club at the Kingsgate Hotel. Together with Toastmasters from Christchurch who have assisted in the club formation, Greymouth Toastmasters celebrated in style with a meal and inspirational presentations by the evenings special guests, Mayor of the Grey District Tony Kokshoorn and New Zealand Toastmasters District Governor Denis McCord. Christchurch Toastmaster Sean Joyce proposed a Toast to the future of Greymouth Toastmasters, this was replied to by club president Norman Young. The evening concluded with presentations by Denis McCord of certificates to charter members and to the club sponsors along with the unveiling of the clubs new banner. Congratulations Greymouth Toastmasters on this wonderful achievement. Best wishes for many successful years of empowering generations of coasters to speak up in their community with confidence. Greymouth Toastmasters had a stellar debut at their first G3 Area Contest last Thursday. Robyn Ashworth represented the club with distinction in both the Table Topics and Humorous speech contests, gaining third highest honours in the Humorous Contest, recounting entertaining stories of her early years in Tokoroa as a "Tokie girl". Congratulations Robyn! This is a fantastic start for a brilliant club. Meeting Venue Greymouth Toastmasters meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the Cancer Society rooms.
